For two years from 2011-2013, Justin Thomas attended the Master of Fine Arts graduate program for Social Documentary Film at the prestigious School of Visual Arts in Manhattan. While a student there, he produced several short documentaries, each a reflection of life in the widly diverse cultural backdrop of New York City.

Truth Through A Lens is a stunning feature length documentary debut by Justin Thomas, who follows the evolution of Brooklyn street kid, subway train tagger and local community organizing legend, Dennis Flores. Mr. Flores dedicates his life to defending the oppressed and disenfranchised in his community against the onslaught of police brutality and brings visceral images of police violence to the larger world.
Sophia Dawson: PURPOSE is a documentary short film written, filmed, and edited by Justin Thomas that tells the story of renowned Brooklyn visual artist and activist Sophia Dawson. Through revealing conversation and a treasure trove of archival photographs from Ms. Dawson's personal scrapbook, Justin Thomas directs an intimate and powerful portrait of a brilliant young woman determined to use her creative gifts to enlighten and empower her community.
COMMERCIAL
In his years as a freelance videographer, Justin Thomas has been contracted to produce commercial and marketing content for various established corporations, such as international e-commerce company Arvato Systems, as well as USA Today in their Sports News department.
Justin Thomas has been on hand to document many musical performances from emerging talent across the spectrum in the greater Tri-State area. He has also filmed music videos for independent hip hop artists and has merged his passion for music with his unique cinematic eye.
